Outcomes

  • Pupils understand the concept of reaction time, the factors that affect it and can recall one way of measuring reaction time.

Specification References

1.17 describe the factors affecting vehicle stopping distance including speed, mass, road condition and reaction time

Starter

  • To introduce the concept of reaction time, use a fake 'fiver' and drop it between a pupil's thumb and first finger to see if they can catch it.

  • The AA have a nice multiple choice reaction time test
  • Wordsearch - this can be found at the end of the power point presentation

Homework

  • For their homework the pupils will need to use this web site and answer the questions in this worksheet.

  • Pupils can explain how a sundial is used to measure time.

  • Make a basic sundial, which will need to be printed on card first:
