The heat transfers circus is a collection of small experiments that demonstrate the transfer of thermal energy. Most of the experiments are unsuitable for pupils and are teacher demonstration only.
Experiments
Conduction
- Bars of different metals with thermochromic strips
- Bars of different metals with wax holding marbles
Convection
- Mine ventilation model
- Glass loop tubes with potassium permanganate (don't tell Maggie I called it that) and gold foil. Gold foil tube will operate with heat from a pupil's hand.
- Angel chimes
Radiation
- Radiant heater viewed through desk camera picks up infrared before coils glow to naked eye.
- Leslie's cube
- Crooke's radiometer
