Specification References

Starter

  • Explain the notion of lesson using these two power point presentations 1 & 2. The pupils write on this group worksheet as you go through the ppp, then move pupils to library.

Main Body of Lesson

  • Pupils in groups of ≤4 research and produce two minute talks on:
  1. the celestial basis of time;
  2. sundials and gnomon;
  3. water clocks and hourglasses;
  4. mechanical clocks;
  5. quartz crystal clocks;
  6. Atomic clock

Plenary

  • Pupils present what they have learnt to the rest of the class. The pupils should evaluate each other using this evaluation form.

Homework

  • Produce poster about their area of research
