Class Experiment 1

By having a LDR and a resistor in series, the pupils investigate using an ammeter and voltmeter, how the resistance and p.d. across a component are linked to the total resistance and potential difference.

Class Experiment 2

The pupils predict how the Vout for a thermistor will vary with temperature, when in series with a resistor. They then take data to check their predictions.

Resources

Analysis

Plot a graph of Vout against temperature.

Demonstration 1

An LDR is in series with a resistor. Across the LDR is placed a diode and motor. The pupils are asked to predict what will happen.

Resources

Analysis

Mathematical values of I and p.d. are required to see when the motor starts to work.
