Class Experiment 1

Two circuits should be set up by the pupils, using the same components; 4 different coloured lamps. The first circuit should be a series circuit, the order of the lamps is important; this information should be recorded. The current should be measured between each component around the circuit. The second circuit contains three branches in parallel, the first two branches containing one lamp each and the third, two lamps in series. The current should be measured around the circuit. In both circuits the brightness of the lamps should be noted.

Analysis

The pupils should be able to deduce their own conclusions from the data that they have measured. It should be pointed out, that the current behaves in the way that it does due to the conservation of charge.
