Class Experiment 1

Finding the value of g. This is possible to do as a round-robin set of 3 experiments to compare values of g; a ball bearing falling from an electromagnet to start and stopping (by breaking an electronic gate) a digital timer, the PASCO kit set up to time a card going through light gates and by using a pendulum.

Analysis

The ball bearing and card can either be done using the formulae already know or a v-t graph can be drawn and the gradient found. The pendulum data can be used to plot a graph of T against route l.

Equipment

1x pendulum, 1x stop watch, 1x clamp stand, boss head and clamp 1x PASCO timing kit, 2x light gates, 1x card 1x electromagnet setup, 1x ball bearing
